I’m Keir, a photographer from the UK and currently based in London. This site showcases my photography portfolio and recent personal projects.

My photographic journey started back in 2011 when I borrowed a friend's DSLR camera for a trip to Hong Kong. I had always enjoyed taking photos, but had never had access to anything more than the very basic of point-and-go cameras. The DSLR was a huge eye-opener to the world of possibilities with photography and quickly sparked a keen interest in learning more.

This photographic spark was kindled further by two very good friends who live in New York. They took the time to teach me more about the technical aspects of photography and image composition; skills I keep practicing and developing to this day. I wouldn't have this website or the portfolio of photos contained within it if it were not for them, and my photography owes itself to their patience and generosity of spirit.

My first DSLR camera was a present from my parents, a Nikon D3200 that I still use to this day. This gave me my first photographic independence; I didn't need to borrow anymore and could take photos of what I wanted, when I wanted and truly get out to experiment and develop my skills. My parents' house also became my first gallery for my work, with photos filling the walls throughout the house.

Today I take my camera everywhere with me whenever I can. Photography is something that I do to relax, and I thoroughly enjoy it. Every time I go out is a learning experience, but it is a great way to explore and put the troubles of real life at a distance for a few hours or so.

What kit do I use?

I have a variety of cameras that I will use, some more than others;

  • Nikon Z6ii - my primary camera that I use regularly for most of my work.

  • Nikon F65 - a 35mm film camera that I take out fairly regularly, bought in a charity shop for £6.99 and probably my best value purchase.

  • Zenit-E - a gift from my partner’s father that I use regularly. Made in 1973 and complete with working selenium light meter.

  • Voigtländer Brillant - I have two of these, one from the 1930s and one later. Both are slightly temperamental but I’ve used them a few times for landscapes and portraits with mixed results.

  • Kodak Brownie Six-20 Model D - fun but awkward, as it uses 620 film which isn’t made anymore, and thus I need to spool 120 film onto a 620 spool to use it.

  • Polariod Spirit 600 - if I’m feeling particularly flush I’ll occasionally take the Polaroid out for a spin.

  • Halina 6-4 Medium Format camera.
